At Babol Noshirvani University of Technology in Iran, Professor Ganji works in the Heat and Fluids group of the Department of Mechanical Engineering. His research brings nonlinear differential equations into contact with practical problems in heat transfer, fluid flow, vibration and engineering dynamics.

A recurring question connects this work: how can a difficult mathematical model be transformed into an approximation that preserves physical meaning? His publications and coauthored books explore analytical and semi-analytical approaches alongside computational methods, with an emphasis on understanding the solution as well as calculating it.

A connected body of work

Thermal transport and nonlinear mechanics are closely linked by the mathematics they require. Work on nanofluids and magnetic-field effects connects material behavior with coupled transport equations. Studies of oscillators and structures ask how nonlinearity changes motion. The common thread is a careful relationship between model, method and verification.

Alongside applications of established methods, Ganji has collaborated on the Akbari–Ganji method, which uses selected trial functions and algebraic constraints to approximate solutions of differential equations.
